REEL-TO-REEL MOLDING FACILITIES
IEM has developed a unique, proprietary process of molding. A leadframe of carrier is fed from one or more reels into the molding press where plastic is encapsulated onto the leadframe or carrier, and then re-spooled onto a receiving reel(s) without interruption or any manual operations. This technology has enabled our customers to automate systems that were extremely labor intensive or were not economical to produce.
Companies come to rely on IEM to provide them with these components, as a single source for many years. These relationships have been successful because of the tremendous economic and technological benefits we are able to provide in addition to our uncompromising quality.
The reel-to-reel is segregated, limited access area with reel-to-reel molding systems starting at 15ton to 95ton of press size.
ELECTRONIC PROCESS
IEM molds a full sepctrum of thermoplastic materials, including many exotic custom compounds and engineering resins with high melting temperature requirements for the electronic sensor and instrumentation industries.
With many years of combined engineering expertise in the plastic industry, IEM is able to assist our customers in design feasibility studies, R & D programs and efficient part designs. This approach results in the highest quality and lowest cost production capabilities.
MOLDING PROCESS
IEM completes the suite of vertical integration with capability for loose piece and reel-to-reel insert molding. Being an early innovator in reel-to-reel insert molding, we are able to feed a precision stamped and plated leadframe continuously into the injection molding machine to form over-molded parts that can be delivered on reels for incorporation in customer’s automation or cingulated into individual pieces or strips of parts.
